Summary:

The Facebook App (Facebook) seeks a Communications Director to lead its communications team. This position will oversee Facebooks growing team of communications leaders around the world, working closely with the Apps leadership team. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced team leader, particularly in the following areas:Product and Consumer centric: Facebook is a consumer brand first and foremost. This leader needs to be well versed in the App, and the world of consumer communications and bring creativity.Collaborative: someone adept at understanding competing interests, an ability to navigate across teams, and work towards developing shared goals.Experienced leader: someone who can run the Facebook Communications team and manage through change, with a passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.Strategist: able to think through complicated reputational challenges including brand, and short and long term.International: Facebook has billions of users globally so an ability to operate and think internationally is crucial.

Required Skills:

Communications Director, Facebook App Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees all communications elements of the Facebook App, working closely with product, partnership, marketing, and policy leaders as needed to further Facebooks goals
  2. Lead strategic communications for Facebook, working with other communications leaders to drive a proactive strategy that plays to Facebooks strengths and is in touch with market dynamics and opportunities
  3. Partner with leaders on Facebooks management team to define our company narrative and put the systems in place to scale it globally across our teams and agencies
  4. Devise and execute major communications strategies and campaigns, such as launching products, driving brand initiatives at scale
  5. Develop a holistic approach to executive communications that combines the most high impact use of social and press
  6. Maintain a close working partnership with Metas communications team on planning, resourcing, and identify areas that would benefit from close coordination
  7. Provide mentorship and support to our communications team around areas such as crisis management, strategic decision making, and employee development
  8. Manage resourcing and planning with Finance and HR to develop headcount and budget plans that map agency and team needs to company priorities
  9. Work with our partnerships, growth and business teams to develop a coordinated and impactful approach to how executives travel to support our country, business and monetization goals
  10. Build deep relationships with press, analysts, influencers and other external stakeholders as required
  11. Work closely with Internal Communications to help ensure a regular and clear cadence of communications to the organization
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. 13+ years of experience in communications
  3. Experience executing media campaigns, crisis management, building relationships with media and working with executives
  4. Experience managing corporate issues and project management
  5. Experience managing agencies and contractors, and putting in place scalable processes to drive and measure results
  6. Experience managing a large, diverse team
Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Post-graduate or professional degrees
  2. 17+ years of experience in communications with leadership and team management experience
  3. Experience working within the technology or consumer industries, and Fortune 500 company
  4. Experience in owned channels and social media
