Design Manager Main Contractor - London £50,000 - £80,000 base salary + Package A unique opportunity to join an established Main Contractor, who work on exciting and challenging projects across variety of sectors with great reputation for delivering results. This main contractor is looking for Design Manager to joint the design team in the Leisure sector. Due to huge growth within the leisure sector they are looking to expand the business and bring new talent into the company. Key Responsibilities: Attend and have active participation in Tender handover meetings. Where required, review & ensure the scope of services within professional appointments are completed in conjunction with the Project commercial team members. Establish Design Actions & Deliverables at the outset of the Project. Monitor, update & distribute the tracker amongst the Project & design team. Write Contractor s Proposals if required for the Project in conjunction with the other team members. Establish the Design Programme Monitor Design Programme, track & record progress Maintain a current set of A3 printed MASTER design information on site with easy access to printed superseded revisions. Ensure the design team are aware of their objectives and responsibilities including but not limited to their obligations under CDM, H&S legislation, Building Regulations, design co-ordination and Contract compliance checking. Review Planning Conditions and ensure all relevant design information is available within suitable timescales in order to submit and discharge the Conditions and monitor via the tracking schedule if necessary. Obtain and submit samples for the purposes of Planning and Client acceptance and monitor against material procurement via a tracking schedule Explore Value Engineering opportunity. Liaise with the CDM-C on appropriate subject matters. Liaise with Building Control on appropriate subject matters. Ensure all design information is checked for compliance against the Employer s Requirements / Contract / Tender drawings & specifications. Ensure suitable design information is available for the purposes of procurement. Liaise with the Project commercial team and ensure procurement periods facilitate timely release of sub-contractor design information. Process the design element of design change control and liaise with the Project commercial team as necessary. Provide design status report for monthly progress meetings. Raise design related Client RFI s and report/schedule status for monthly progress meetings. Raise and monitor RFI s between design team and sub-contractors. Chair design team workshops and record actions using the DAD. Be fully conversant with the use of Aconex and the Protocol document. Assist & guide the Project teams in the use of Aconex where necessary. Monitor & police the correct use of Aconex within the Project team. Have full control over the Document Control procedure and comment & review process. Ensure all digital information is distributed correctly for design & build purposes. Ensure all drawings & design information used for the purposes of construction is marked as such. Obtain and collate evidence for Design Stage BREEAM Assessment. Comment & review on building fabric O&M Manuals for accuracy and content. Comment & review on H&S File for accuracy and content. Attend meetings as required by the Project, e.g. internal team meetings and Client progress meetings. Understand and operate the systems imposed by the Client on the Project relating to Document Control and Design Management/Co-ordination. Required Skills & Qualifications Ideally previous experience within the sports or leisure sector Good knowledge of building regulations Good interpersonal skills including, communication and team building Technical skills and the ability to use design and project management software Problem solving skills and creative thinking Attention to detail.
