Description

The Inside Sales Engineer position is responsible for specification and blueprint review, new product quotes, CRM/database management and process adherence for pre-sale customer relations.

The position reports directly to the Sales Operations Manager in the Sales department and routinely interacts with customers both internal and external.

The Inside Sales team is the foundation to our sales group and allows for growth and development into various positions in our sales organization. Project Management, Project Engineer, Outside Sales, and Application Engineer are just a few of the possibilities and growth opportunities available with Nixon.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities require a specific focus on proven process and procedure in order to:

Lead Identification
  • Gather Request For Quotes from various sources
  • Handle incoming technical calls
Quote Preparation
  • Estimating and preparing proposals on time
  • Support engineers, contractors and outside sales people
  • Training and assisting on specifications and sizing
  • Preparing necessary forms ("Second Look") for additional discounts
  • Searching and gathering more competitive pricing on outside purchases
CRM
  • Project management duties for specific projects in pre-sale area

Requirements

Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university; Engineering or Technical degree preferred; or two to five years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Past project management or estimating experience with a licensed electrical contractor will be strongly considered.
  • Customer-facing or customer-service experience is strongly preferred
  • Switchgear experience is strongly desired.

Skills and abilities
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-start, work without supervision, exercise good judgment and decision-making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Attention to detail, including the ability to manage projects to the customer's expectation
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and generators is desired
