Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the inspection, installation, repair, adjustment, construction, modification, calibration, programming and wiring of electrical and electronic apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltages in the mill or assigned area.  The technician will also be responsible for the service of all PLCs and connected devices. The technician will care for the successful operation of manufacturing equipment by regularly monitoring systems via plc, historian or physical observation. This position will work 10 hours days M-F but must be available as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

 Safety - Promotes, adheres to, and contributes to plant safety programs and ensures compliance with best maintenance practices (BMP's).

  • Safely operate and test energized electrical systems
  • Under little supervision, performs a variety of tasks involved in the provision of Process Controls, internal customer service and reporting
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace or repair PLCs, remote IO, variety of variable frequency drives, electrical devices, ethernet devices, network switches, ethernet cable, human to machine interfaces, panel views, computer displays and other process control components.
  • Use required equipment including hand tools, calibrators, and electrical test equipment including multi-meters to test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, calibrate, test and install electrical motors, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems and other related devices including but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature and safety monitoring devices
  • Maintain proper documentation for all changes and upgrades and follow the Management of Change process
  • Work with Electrical Supervisor and Electrical Lead to aid team during normal shifts, weekends and after hours.
  • Evaluate processes for improved quality, cost effectiveness and potential growth.


 Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:

  • Troubleshooting control loops, single point devices, networked devices
  • Process instrumentation
  • Communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, 4-20mA, Hart, Fieldbus)
  • Troubleshooting and testing of power systems (24Vdc, AC systems up to 4160 V)
  • Technical documents (P&IDs, Electrical Drawings, Technical Manuals)
  • Extensive knowledge of Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Ethernet Connect Control Systems, and Allen Bradley AC Drives, reading logic documentation or PC interface


  •  Associates Degree/Technical Degree or Higher preferred, namely in Process Instrumentation or other electrical discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
  • 3-5 years' experience providing E&I services in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Strong computer proficiency required, namely the ability to operate a variety of electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level.


  •  Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic and superior trouble shooting skill.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proactive individual with a strong preventative maintenance approach.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills with planning on a daily basis.
  • Constant walking and stair climbing.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
