We are seeking a motivated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team of dedicated professionals in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the other members of our team to deliver exemplary care for children who have developmental and behavioral concerns and diagnosis. The PNP will also work at the direction of the Division Chief and Department Chair on program development, outreach, patient navigation, and quality and safety initiatives of the department.

The division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center provides state of the art care for children throughout the region. Our division is comprised of two full time pediatric developmental and behavioral physicians, two nurse practitioners with specialty clinical training and expertise, doctoral and masters prepared psychologist and behavioral health clinicians, nursing, speech therapy and educational specialists. The role of the Advanced Practice Provider is highly valued in this Division, and the new clinician will function as an independent provider, though considerable mentoring and role development support will be offered by members of the team. The Division has several specialty clinics such as an Autism Medical Home and a collaborative Spina Bifida program and is engaged in clinical research. The PNP position is conducive to a good work/life balance, with regular clinic hours Monday-Friday, and no evening, weekend or holiday coverage. .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Assess, plan, and implement care for individual patients ages 0-18
  • Appropriately document all patient encounters
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide education
  • Promote wellness and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs
  • Promote/provide staff education
  • Incorporate evidence-based medicine into clinical practice
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements
  • Serve as a resource person and mentor for the nursing staff
  • Work at the direction of the Division Chief and Department Chair on program development, outreach, patient navigation, and quality and safety initiatives
  • Work in collaboration with other services (egs. pediatric surgery, pediatric radiology, pathology, adult gastroenterology) to coordinate care for patients

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Master s program or hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree
  • Current NYS licensure, Board Certification, and DEA registration
  • Successful completion and maintenance of BLS and PALS
  • Possess or obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by the US Center for Medicaid and Medicare services
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience within the field of pediatric gastroenterology preferred
