About the role Currently, my client is seeking talented engineers to join them in supporting their clients by providing services such as: system and detailed performance assessments of process and Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems; explosive atmosphere management and ventilation services; and support to the design, operation, substantiation and safety justifications of fluid systems and components. My client prides themselves in using cutting edge engineering methods to help their clients address high value technical challenges. They are part of the energy business unit, which supports clients in a wide range of industries, including the nuclear power, hydrogen, renewable power, turbomachinery, defence, aviation, rail, and government sectors. About You To be suitable for the role, you will have a demonstrable track record of delivering fluid and / or ventilation system engineering, as well as the ability to work across multiple industries. You must also be able to meet the following minimum requirements: A demonstrable track record of delivering fluid and/or ventilation system engineering, including activities such as understanding requirements, performing detailed analysis (e.g. using Aspen codes, Flomaster, RELAP etc) and bringing together design substantiation that feeds into the overall safety justification of plant. Flexible enough to work across industries, with significant experience of delivering solutions in the nuclear industry or other high assurance industries (process industry, oil and gas etc), and an understanding of delivering technical work within the related quality requirements. Significant experience of using / a solid understanding of practical thermofluidic mechanics, to perform fluids and thermal hand calculations and system level flow assurance assessments, and to address technical challenges in fluid flow and heat transfer and develop proportionate, appropriate, and credible solutions. It would be advantageous if you meet any or all the following additional requirements: A track record of successfully delivering consultancy services in the nuclear industry, identifying, and approaching new clients, understanding their challenges, developing proposals to address these, delivering the resulting project work and developing productive and lasting client relationships. Experience of working with nuclear technologies such as PWRs, advanced nuclear technologies (SMRs, fusion etc), nuclear process and/or decommissioning plant. Experience of using detailed modelling approaches such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to understand complex flow fields and heat transfer (e.g., using Fluent, CFX, Star-CCM etc) in high assurance industries. A chartered engineer of a recognised engineering institution, or actively working towards chartership.
