About Us:

Middle River Aerostructure Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of thrust reversers (the braking system on a jet engine), engine nacelle components and specialized aerostructures. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.7-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres - where the company and its predecessors have designed, built and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 90 years. In 2019, MRAS was acquired by ST Engineering North America, the U.S. affiliate of Singapore-based ST Engineering - becoming a part of its global network of aerospace facilities and offices. With the ownership change, the company was renamed Middle River Aerostructure Systems.


Role Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will be the first point of contact for people leaders and union officials regarding all labor relations matters including adherence to the collective bargaining agreement. This role provides an expanded level of HR coverage for multiple client groups within the salaried workforce. HR fundamentals include focus on policy compliance, driving process improvement, and building cohesive partnerships across the organization.


As the Sr. HR Business Partner your essential responsibilities will be:


Labor Relations:

• Provide dedicated guidance to senior leaders and staff within the context of union relations and compliance of collective bargaining agreement.

• Ensure a collaborative partnership with union officials and bargaining committee.

• Provide coaching to managers and employees with specific focus on: employee relations management, HR fundamentals, CBA/policy training, and workplace grievances/investigations.

• Ensure that all employee concerns are properly addressed and resolved with integrity and fairness. Adhere to documented rules for corrective actions.

• Lead key initiatives to prepare for labor contract negotiations and serve as Company representative on priorities and philosophy.

• Manage and enforce Company compliance in regards to all aspects of the collective bargaining agreement.


Business Partner:

• Conduct employee feedback sessions and surveys to strategize with leadership on cultural and workplace enhancements.

• Provide guidance to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures to promote an ethical and compliant work environment.

• Support all key HR processes with a continuous improvement mindset.

• Analyze market trends and propose recommendations.

• Lead site-wide HR collaboration projects as necessary (local, North America, Global)

• Serve as the subject matter expert for complex HR topics and partner with the necessary resources (union officials, legal, business leaders).

• Provide support to the Human Resources Director.

. Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Human Resources, Industrial Labor/Organizational Relations, or Business Administration.

Minimum of 8 years human resources work experience in a manufacturing /distribution environment

Minimum of 3 years union/labor relations experience

Contract negotiations experience is required

• Master's degree in Human Resources/Industrial Relations/Labor Relations

• SHRM-CP certification is highly preferred
