The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide effective financial and contractual leadership and management of your designated area, whilst always working collaboratively with clients and team members. The successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal skills necessary to proactively engage, establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and supply chain. Key Roles, Responsibilities and Accountabilities Pre-Contract Works • Review of tender allowances and preparation of internal budgets • Production of cost to complete forecast (site budget). • Preparation of take-offs (from relevant SMM) & Bills of Quantity from construction drawings Post Contract Works • Undertake and/or ensure site measures are carried out including the preparation of supporting information for submitting interim valuations and agreement of final accounts. • Manage all change control across your contracts/area. • Identify and value impacts caused by delay on contract programmes Subcontract Management • Ensure all procurement, raising of orders, processing of applications for payment and final account reconciliation of subcontract packages is carried out in accordance with company procedures. Reporting & Administration • Challenge project resources / costs, manage your contracts budget/cost to complete. • Management and production of monthly CVR s. • Good working knowledge of internal commercial cost systems and contract administration • Manage production of income & cost cashflows on a weekly basis. Business Contribution • Represent their interests in client facing meetings at various levels. PUT IN QS & AQS • Provide contribution towards yearly business plan • Travel to various sites and offices as determined by your line manager. • Undertake roles outside of your position to contribute to the overall business function as directed by your line manager. Leadership • Be able to manage your workload whilst providing your team with supervision & leadership. • Manage the STEP review process to ensure your team receive regular feedback on their yearly goals. • Manage, be a mentor & provide advice to the QS and less experienced members of the contract delivery team • Nurture relationships with your team and client counterparts. • Lead and supervise contract negotiation and completion of contract documentation. • Manage area income with Finance team • Have full knowledge of the contract and our duties and requirements within it. • Contribute to and/or produce innovative ways of working to promote efficiencies within the team. • Set an example as an inspiring and effective Employee/Manager • Manage change by being flexible, responsive and an effective problem solver • Communicate effectively throughout the day with your peers • Manage and drive individual performance Health, Safety and Environmental Management • Take responsibility and practice health, safety and environmental process on site • Take immediate action to resolve risks and report Near Misses, Process Issues and Suggestions • Maintain a tidy site through and after work Role Management • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills • The ability to use own initiative • Be flexible and responsive • Effective problem solver Person Specification - Qualifications, Technical skills and Experience Qualifications and Training Personal Skills Required: • Possess excellent standards of written and verbal communication skills. • Computer literate. Competent and effective with Microsoft word and excel. • Knowledge of or desire to utilise project tools such as Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, CAD, BIM, Causeway Estimating etc in carrying out your role • Able to effectively use and navigate costing and filing systems. • Able to take a structured, logical and analytical approach to tasks, setting priorities and deadlines. • Hold an ability to embrace change, challenge the norm through innovation and become a flexible and responsible team member to meet the needs of the business. • Collaborative, keen to share information, knowledge and skills within various teams. • Able to take a structured, logical and methodical approach to any task, identifying priorities and setting deadlines. Essential: • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English • Excellent IT skills, fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) • Achieved, working towards or willing to work towards a relevant qualification e.g. HNC, BSc or MSc • Full UK Driving Licence Desirable: • CSCS Card Holder • Civil Engineering experience • Working knowledge of Causeway Project Accounting (CPA) Experience: • Knowledge and experience of traditional construction activitie Experience: • Knowledge and experience of traditional construction activities.
